They got to the surge and they left out so many important facts about it. Not to mention that they lied about most of the things they said. Such as, that we were able to get more rest, IED, EFP , small arms, mortar and rockets attacks dropped and it made our job easier. B.S.!!! I recall getting betwwen 2 to 4 hrs of sleep a night if i was lucky most guys were sitting on 2 hrs of sleep. Our job became WAY harder. They also didn't say that it pushed our deployment to 15 months rather than 8 months like we were told. We were attacked on a daily basis. Guys were wounded and dying everyday and my FoB was mortared and rocketed everyday guys we even killed on the fob. They didn't say anything about how the F@#!ing DHAH wasn't initailly taking detainees. Which led to more guys being killed. They didn't state the fact that 2007 was the worst year throughout the war. When you go to war your fighting to save the guys around you. This is what Sargeant Hatley did. There all a band of brothers that are fighting for each other. This is what my dad told me about WW2. So by being in proximity of a known combat zone they are willingly putting their life in danger. There should not be cases like this against soldiers that are trying to protect themselves. I don't want to rant but there is in no way that the taliban will win, god is on our side and as long as we praise god with our actions and words we shalt not fail, god bless america. I still remember you taking pride in knowing tanks and how they operate so when we went into our promotion boards you can school us on our tanks lol.. I served with john in OIF 2 and OIF 06-08 and never met a finer NCO i remember talking to him in the chow hall on FOB falcon right before my SSG promotion board saying i hop you guys know alot about bikes!! he had just mentioned kim getting him a fatboy!! you will pull through this john!!! you are truly missed top!
